One of the earliest discussions with residents was identifying areas around the housing estate that could be improved. One area in particular was mentioned repeatedly, ‘The Scabby Wa’ an area of old wall in need of attention.
The ideas underpinning this project came from a mixture of aspiration, imagination and storytelling.
Working with a professional graffiti artist over several weeks ideas were developed with the residents, predominantly the children. The content for a mural was gathered and ‘The Scabby Wa’ ceased to be. In its place was a composition of colour and multiple imagined characters.
